Whispering Oaks Ranch: The Perfect Mix of Mountains and Moab

Weddings

With a relationship built on spending time together in the outdoors, exploring is something these two do wherever they go. For this important occasion, that included taking their friends and family along to see Moab. Sean and Lindsay try to do at least one major travel excursion each year and this year’s was their Moab wedding. The La Sal Mountains and Moab, Utah scenery combined effortlessly for their Whispering Oaks Ranch wedding.

A Moab Love Story That Lands at a Whispering Oaks Ranch Wedding

Sean and Lindsay’s built their relationship upon time spent together outdoors. As the couple shares, their love “truly blossomed during one of our first ski and canyoneering trips in the Moab area.” Both passionate about traveling and experiencing the natural world around them, it’s how they spend most of their time outside of the house.

Local to Salt Lake City, they spend most of this time on Moab adventures. They listed off their favorite activities which include: “climbing, floating on the Colorado River, running, canyoneering, and skiing! We have always loved skiing in the La Sal Mountains and try to make it at least once a season.”

On one of their adventures a few years prior, the two were staying in a Gold Basin Yurt in Utah. Sean found a place to pop the question in a meadow with Mt. Tukuhnikivatz in the background. It turns out that the meadow of their engagement is the backdrop of the ceremony location at Whispering Oaks Ranch. It was meant to be!

This Utah wedding venue is located in the La Sal Mountains with views of the canyonlands surrounded by greenery. It’s about 45 minutes from town and up in the pines which is very beautiful but doesn’t have the traditional red rock Moab look. The site offers many great options for your Moab wedding photographer to capture your day!

In searching for a special spot to host their wedding, the couple wanted to bring together the charm of the alpine with Lindsay’s other passion: gardening. Their chosen decor at Whispering Oaks Ranch Utah included sage (abundant in Utah), and incorporated many of Lindsay’s favorite flowers which altogether complemented the space.

In their own words, Sean and Lindsay were excited about “the idea of gathering all of the people special to us in a place that was special to us.” Once they discovered that Whispering Oaks Ranch overlooked their engagement spot, they knew the location was destiny! The couple felt that it was “a great place to get people together and build our community, plus the deck of the Cedar Bend Lodge Cabin has the best view in Moab!”

More than anything, they were “most looking forward to gathering our family and friends together to have an adventurous experience in the desert and mountains with us.” Most had never been to Moab, Utah before since their families are originally from Arizona and Michigan.

They considered it “the perfect way to introduce all of them to a portion of the life that we are developing together here in Utah, and this particular spot perfectly blends our love for the sandstone desert with our love of the high peaks!”

Their own adventure began two days prior with an adventure session at Canyonlands National Park. We captured sunset Moab desert wedding bridals of Lindsay letting her hair loose in the wind. She also creating an entirely different look by switching into a second wedding dress and layering with a denim jacket.

When Your Adventures, Your Family, and Your New Life Come Together

The main visual that comes to mind when I remember this wedding is the way Lindsay looked at Sean. She clearly admires and loves him with all of her heart. Their love for each other is also so apparent. Sean and Lindsay are truly some of the sweetest people I’ve ever met! Their laid-back and intentional wedding brought together one of the most badass and adventurous couples out there!
