Spring Creeks Ranch Wedding Under Beautiful Rocky Mountain Views

Love Stories, Weddings

While I normally find myself capturing Moab, Utah weddings, I love having the chance to expand my photographic horizons. Where you choose to get married can play such a large role in making the day! This wedding brought me to the Rocky Mountains for a picturesque outdoor summer wedding at Spring Creeks Ranch.

Finding Your Colorado Wedding Venue: Spring Creeks Ranch

Located at the center of Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley, Spring Creeks Ranch offers ideal views of the surrounding Rocky Mountains. Centered in the small town of Carbondale, this isolated destination sits on over 80 acres of meadows, rivers, and streams.

The wedding venue has been a working ranch since 1927 now offering visitors a variety of activities including fly fishing, camping, hiking, biking, and rafting. For a wedding, you can choose multi-day experiences incorporating these activities into your time!

Alison and Dustin found that Spring Creeks Ranch was exactly the kind of venue that they were looking for. They easily summarized what was most important to their day as “Love, family, vows. We were looking forward to becoming husband and wife and reading our personal vows to one another.” The venue hit all the marks of being family-friendly, beautiful, while speaking to the two of them as people.

The couple’s colors and design also matched the vibes of this ranch wedding venue choosing maroon, dark green, white and baby pink. As they summarized it, “we went for a western, country, beautiful theme!” Alison and Dustin described the experience as incredible, noting that everyone involved knocked it out of the water making it the most beautiful day!

Spring Creeks Ranch Top Tips

The property has a variety of ceremony and reception options:

  • Ceremony Meadow: outdoors surrounded by trees and mountain views.
  • Creekside Pavilion: outdoor covered patio with beam ceilings and fire pit.
  • Event Barn: 5,000 square feet with a cathedral ceiling, getting-ready spaces, glass doors, iron chandeliers, commercial kitchen and both outdoor and indoor areas. Also serves as a rain plan option!

While the venue is open year-round, prices vary according to the peak season (May through October). Off-peak is November through April when you will find lower pricing and higher availability.

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed on the property. If including dogs in your wedding is your goal, then I have many Moab spots to recommend!

Marking the Day With Epic Wedding Entrances

For these two, adventure is a part of their relationship DNA. Alison and Dustin explained, “it means everything to us because we are such outdoorsy people and do the best we can to have new experiences traveling and in the outdoors!”

These adventurers elaborated further, “We love being outdoors with our dogs, stepping out of our comfort zone, and doing so with a best friend makes it worth it!” This was the motivation behind the bride entering on horseback while the groom arrived from the sky!

Alison and Dustin figured this once-in-a-lifetime experience was all the reason needed to make their entrances spectacular. Knowing Alison didn’t want to simply walk down the aisle, and being a horse girl herself–arriving by horseback only made sense. Alison noted, “it meant a lot to me because it felt like me and what I was raised on. Walking with Banker was an incredible experience!”

Taking it to the next level was Dustin who decided to make this his first skydiving trip! All the groom could think about on the way down was “this view is so beautiful, but I am so excited to see my even more beautiful bride!” He shared afterwards that “never once was I nervous to jump, only excited to marry my best friend in front of all of those people who we both love!”

Ways to Bring the Day to a Close

Spring Creeks Ranch is the kind of place that instantly makes you feel at home. That’s one of the reasons why the newlyweds knew that this was their wedding venue. The couple had a wonderful experience even for a first visit to the venue and town: “we knew we wanted to be there right off the bat!”

There are so many on-site location options for taking wedding portraits. The property offers large grassy meadows with tons of wildflowers, in addition to the ponds, creeks, and Roaring Fork River frontage. My personal favorite is a large pond with an incredible view of Mount Sopris directly behind it.

When it was time for sunset photos, the venue manager picked us up in a Side-by-Side that was towing a trailer with benches. The videographers, wedding coordinator, venue manager, the couple and myself all hopped in! Together, we went on a fun adventure around the property chasing the sunset. It was a blast!
